Allen Chohon

Allen Chohon, LIMHP, LADC

I have worked as a mental health and addictions therapist since 1996.  Following the reception of a master’s degree in clinical psychology, I worked in a variety of clinical settings.  These included a rural mental health center, a faith-based counseling clinic, and several different outpatient mental health clinics within a comprehensive health care system.  I am currently a member of the Catholic Psychotherapy Association.

I approach counseling from a holistic view of the human person, including body, mind, and spirit.  I specialize in the treatment of addictions (substance abuse and behavioral), codependency, stress management, anxiety, depression, marriage counseling, and spiritual issues.  I have specialized training and experience with Twelve Step Recovery, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gottman Couples Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and other forms of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

In my free time, I am engaged in family activities, and I am an active member of my Catholic parish and my children’s Catholic schools.  I like to travel where I can engage in sight-seeing, reading, and making family memories.

I currently provide Outpatient Services at the Main Office – St. Teresa of Calcutta Campus and I am also at the John Paul II Newman Center as part of the School Mental Health Program.
