Kaitlyn Harper, LIMHP

I come to Catholic Charities with great passion and experience working with adolescents and young adults with a variety of mental health concerns. I confidently work with families and young children experiencing concerns related to impulsive behaviors, emotional dysregulation, low self-esteem, and problems related to defiance. I am certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and enjoy helping families build healthy, trusting relationships between parents and their children through establishing appropriate boundaries and consistency. I am also certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and grateful I can utilize it with children and teenagers, as it provides a structured yet compassionate approach to help them process and heal from their trauma experiences in a way that feels empowering and safe.

I find fulfillment in working with teenagers and young adults who are facing mental health challenges or life stressors and are seeking to gain a greater sense of control in their lives. I emphasize the importance of building strong communication skills and establishing healthy boundaries to help clients gain the confidence to express their needs, advocate for themselves, and cultivate respectful relationships. Clients are provided a neutral space to explore what is important to them and create meaningful goals to improve their ability to navigate life challenges, manage mood, and increase overall self-esteem.

I believe building a trusting relationship with each individual takes time and understanding of how stressors are experienced from their perspective. I strive to create a supportive, engaging, and sometimes light-hearted environment, using humor and a relaxed energy to make difficult conversations feel more accessible, allowing clients to feel safe and empowered in their therapeutic journey.

Education: Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from University of Nebraska at Omaha; currently licensed to practice in Nebraska as a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner.
